About this event

TADHack is the largest global hackathon focused on programmable communications since its founding in 2014. You can view all the content from all the events through the years in the Appendix of this plan.

This year we are partnering with Network X (24-26 Oct in Paris, Broadband World Forum, 5G World Forum, and Telco Cloud) as the pre-event hackathon. This is similar to what we do before Enterprise Connect with TADHack Open in March. Doing this provides greater awareness across senior executives in the industry.

These slides give you a feel for what to expect at a TADHack https://www.slideshare.net/jaquayle/tadhack-global-2020-winners, and https://www.slideshare.net/jaquayle/tadhack-global-results-2021-presented-at-rtc-conference. Some hacks go on to be businesses and deployed services, some kick off partnerships for the sponsor, and some are used by sponsors to demonstrate the power of their platform, e.g. see this blog from Symbl.ai.

The mix of hackers is roughly: web developers 60%, students (high school, under-grad, and post-grad) 20%, telecoms folks 10%, innovators and non-technology people 10%.

In 2021 Symbl.ai achieved an amazing result, 21 hacks, and Telnyx was even more impressive with 30 hacks; all created over one weekend by developers from around the world. We’ve not seen such a large number of hacks for one sponsor since TADHack was drawing 3000+ registrations in 2017/2018.

The locations we anticipate running are: Colombia, South Africa + other locations around Africa, UK, Sri Lanka, Paris, and remote (anywhere in the world). Last year we discovered that in North America, people prefer hacking remotely. Our best hacks were remote, and on Sunday for TADHack Chicago, everyone hacked from home rather than come into IIT. Reflecting this shift, we’re planning on North America being fully remote.

Paris has been a tough location for TADHack in the past, because of Network X and TADSummit running in Paris this location will be more of an ‘industry-insider hack’ than general developers. TADSummit is on 19-20 October at Capgemini’s Lab at 147. Quai du Président Roosevelt 92130 Issy-les-Moulineaux.

The schedule of events will be:

  • 19-20 October (Thursday / Friday), TADSummit 2023
  • 21-22 October (Saturday / Sunday), TADHack Global 2023
  • 24-26 October (Tuesday - Thursday), Network X with TADHack session on Tuesday 24th.
